Kroc member Joanne Conner shares her story.  “Having retired from Berkshire Hathaway C. Dan Joyner REALTORS at the end of 2019, I needed to develop some structure and healthy habits in my new life.  Among other activities from Pickleball to walking about 15 miles per week, I attend the Kroc Center’s SilverSneakers program at least twice per week.  Despite the issues with the pandemic, Jennifer Perras and the Kroc Center have offered seamless training and workouts that have made the craziness of 2020 palatable.  Additionally there is a huge social aspect that I think we have all missed in the past year.  The Kroc continues to help us maintain social distancing at the same time providing excellent programs for us older folks.”

 

At the Kroc we’ve got a class for you no matter your fitness level.

 

SilverSneakers Classic: You’ll move to the music through exercises that increase strength, range of motion and cardiovascular output.  We do some exercises standing and some seated on the chair.  A chair is always available for support.  This class emphasizes low impact cardio and core stability.

 

SilverSneakers Strength:  This class is designed to hit all the major muscle groups.  It is open to all fitness levels and abilities.  We do some exercises standing and some seated in the chair.  This class emphasizes muscular endurance, joint and core stability.

 

SilverSneakers Circuit:  Get ready to have some fun with this total body workout.  This class emphasizes skills and drills to test coordination, balance, cognitive thinking, and reaction time.

 

SilverSneakers Yoga:  You’ll move through a series of modified yoga poses and practice breathing and balance.  All movements are from seated or standing and never from the floor. 

 

Silver Cycle:  Indoor cycling is a great way to increase cardiovascular fitness.  It is low impact and easy on the joints.  This is a fun and challenging class open to all levels.

 

Aqua Fitness:  Water fitness is a great way to improve cardiovascular endurance without putting stress on the joints.  These classes are open to all fitness levels and abilities. 

 

 

 

As a trained and certified SilverSneakers instructor I’ve got your back!  I am equipped and ready to support you on your exercise journey.  If you have the green light from your physician to exercise, come and try a class.  You may be worried about a chronic conditions like diabetes, or you have had a stroke, or perhaps you are concerned about falling, balance and knee issues.  Please let me know and I can modify the exercises to suit your ability.
