While Greenville remains on lockdown, you may be finding it difficult to fit your workouts into your daily plan and challenging to find the motivation… especially when no one is watching!
Let me share my top 5 tips for staying motivated to do your workouts from home:
1. Make space
2. Make time
3. Be social about your exercise endeavors
4. Focus on the positive feelings that exercise brings
5. Stream online workouts and download apps
We all know that regular exercise is beneficial to our long-term health. It can also help to alleviate stress and lift your spirits. I recommend finding a space in your house where you can complete workouts. It might mean rearranging some furniture and moving some items out of the way. Having a dedicated space will not only serve a reminder to exercise – it will also be a great motivator!
Next, dedicate a time of day that you will do your workout. While stuck at home, one day can easily flow into the next. It is important to build structure into your day. I find keeping to a routine is the best way to stay on track with workouts! For parents at home with kids finding a regular time every day to workout may be challenging. Schedule exercise during nap time, and if your kids are older, why not workout as a family?
Maybe you are not the type who likes to work out alone? Or maybe you cannot get motivated to move when you think no one is watching you? Just because we are in self-isolation doesn’t mean we can’t be social with one another. Stay connected with your friends and family and create an exercise challenge. It can be as simple as logging your daily workout and staying accountable to your group. Gather your friends together and do a virtual workout.
Coronavirus got you down? Another benefit to exercise is the positive feelings that come with it! Move your body to lift your spirits. It is important to choose exercises that you enjoy. If you have never enjoyed running, now is the time to start! Don’t think too much about the daunting task of having to exercise; instead, think about the how great you will feel afterwards!
Finally, with technology at our fingertips,I recommend streaming your favorite workouts and downloading some great apps to get inspired. Here are my favorite YouTube channels and Apps:
