TENNIS STAFF

Keegan Barkley, Director of Tennis

Keegan Barkley serves as the Director of Tennis at the Kroc Tennis Center. He is a USPTA Certified Professional and previously was the Head Professional for 904 Tennis, a tennis management company in Jacksonville, FL. While in Jacksonville, Keegan created adult league programming and teams for 6 different clubs. He worked with junior players of all levels, working closely with a number of juniors who received tennis scholarships for NCAA Division 1, 2, and 3 programs. Keegan was a top ranked junior player in Mississippi and earned a BS in Business Management from Southern Wesleyan University where he competed on the tennis team(2014-2017) and served as the team captain (2015-2017).

Wilson Mathewes, Head Teaching Professional

Wilson Mathewes is a native of Greenville, South Carolina. He graduated Cum Laude from Erskine College with a bachelors degree in Business Administration. He received his Master’s in Leadership from The Citadel Military College. Wilson was a four-time all-conference player in college as well as a national freshman of the year recipient at the University of South Carolina-Lancaster.

Wilson was the Assistant Men’s Tennis Coach at The Citadel from 2015-2017. He coached at Clemson Tennis Camps from 2013-2015 and was the co-director of the University of Southern California Tennis camps from 2015-2017. He has also directed Chuck Kriese’s Total Tennis Training programs in 2015 and 2016. From 2017-2020, Wilson was a high-performance junior coach at the Junior Tennis Champions Center in College Park Maryland where he traveled nationwide helping players grow their tennis games. He also directed a multitude of UTR tournaments as well as one of JTCC’s most successful junior programs. Wilson is dedicated to the development of all players and committed to building their character on and off of the court.

Joseph Murrey, Teaching Professional

Joseph is a native of Greenville, SC but has recently moved back to the area. He has 30 years of playing experience and 22 years of coaching experience. Most recently he has been teaching private lessons in Northeast Georgia. Prior to that he was the Head Men’s and Women’s tennis coach for Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. He helped lead the Concordia men’s tennis to their first tournament berth in 7 years and was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2018.

Joseph is a graduate of Toccoa Falls College in Toccoa, GA. He is currently studying for his Master in Organizational Leadership from Columbia International University. When he is not teaching tennis he loves spending time hiking, camping, and gardening with his wife and adopted daughter.

Jevgenij Cariov, Teaching Professional

Jevgenij Cariov grew up in Lithuania where started playing tennis at 6 years of age. Multiple age group national champion and two time men’s champion in his country. Represented his country in Davis Cup. As a junior was ranked in the top 50 ITF, and achieved the round of 16 of Junior Australian Open. Before college, briefly played on ATP tour. In college played 2 years for Texas Tech and 2 years for DePaul where he achieved NCAA tournament entry. Inducted in Depaul Hall of Fame.
Started coaching tennis in 2014 when his kids decided to start playing tennis. Worked with some high ranked national juniors. Big believer in setting the right fundamentals in order to efficiently progress.

Calvin Sullivan, Teaching Professional

Calvin is a PTR Certified Professional who simply loves being on the court. Whether he is competing or teaching, he puts it all out there.

Calvin joined the Kroc team in 2016. He graduated from University of Charleston West Virginia with a BS in Health Sciences Athletic Training. He is currently pursuing another degree in Psychology.

Brad Cranford, Teaching Professional & Master Racquet Technician

Brad Cranford is a PTR Certified Professional and USRSA Master Racquet Technician who joined the Kroc Tennis team in 2011. Prior to Kroc, Brad was a store manager at Sports Authority for 18 years. Brad owned and managed a tournament racquet stringing team which traveled to ITF, ATP, WTA, and USTA events servicing the racquets of the touring pros. Brad played varsity tennis at USC Union and USC Spartanburg and graduated from the PTR Van der Meer Tennis University in 1988. He has been the Associate Director of the USC Tennis Camps for 25 years and has coached high school and collegiate tennis.

Terry Rookard, Teaching Professional

Terry Rookard has been teaching tennis to adults and kids as long as he can remember! The Kroc Tennis Center has been his teaching grounds since the opening in 2011. Terry is the Head Tennis Coach for boys and girls at Southside High and has served in this role for the past 10 years. Terry has been awarded SC HS Coach of the Year 5 times! He is a former SC #1 in both singles and doubles.
