Designed for swimmers of all skill levels, parents, caregivers, and students with disabilities participate in group lessons taught by a specially certified instructor.
Personalized techniques empower swimmers to focus on courage and move towards greater independence in the water, celebrating progress at every step in a safe and supportive environment.
Starting June 1st | Five Classes Per Session
Ages 3 - 6: Sundays 3 - 4PM
Ages 7 - 12: Sundays 4:30 - 5:30PM
Adaptive Swim Lessons are specialized classes designed for children who benefit from individualized pacing, sensory‑aware instruction, and flexible teaching methods. These lessons use the Angel Fish Adaptive Aquatics curriculum to help swimmers gain water confidence, safety skills, and functional movement through personalized support.
Our program is divided into two age groups to ensure appropriate skill development and peer comfort:
Ages 3–6
Ages 7–12
Yes, this is a parent/child program, and a parent or caregiver is required to be in the water for every session. Their involvement supports comfort, communication, and consistent skill reinforcement.
We follow the Angel Fish Adaptive Aquatics curriculum, which is specifically designed for children with sensory, developmental, physical, or attention‑related differences. The curriculum focuses on emotional regulation, confidence building, and functional swim skills.
The adaptive program runs for 5 sessions, each lasting 1 hour, held on Sunday evenings.
Session 1 is a guided evaluation where instructors assess each swimmer’s comfort level, learning style, sensory needs, strengths, and aquatic abilities. This helps us tailor the remaining sessions to each child’s needs.
Each 1‑hour lesson follows a predictable, supportive routine:
15 minutes: Water acclimation and sensory adjustment
30 minutes: Guided lesson using the Angel Fish methods
15 minutes: Free swim for exploration, confidence building, and positive closure
These lessons are beneficial for children with:
Autism spectrum disorder
Sensory processing differences
Developmental delays
Anxiety or fear of water
Physical or motor challenges
ADHD
Communication differences
Our instructors are trained in adaptive aquatics techniques, sensory‑aware teaching, and behavior‑support strategies. They use positive reinforcement, flexible methods, and a child‑centered approach.
Class sizes are kept intentionally small to ensure individualized attention and a calm learning environment. Classes will max out at 5 participants.
No, we welcome swimmers of all needs. However, children who are not toilet‑trained must wear properly fitted swim diapers.
Please bring:
A swimsuit for both child and caregiver
Towels
Swim diapers (if needed)
Any comfort items permitted by the instructor (e.g., goggles, weighted toy)
That’s completely okay. Our instructors are trained to adjust activities, take breaks, offer sensory support, and help each child participate at their comfort level. Progress is celebrated at every step, no pressure, no judgment.
Make‑up options depend on availability. Please contact your facility in advance for rescheduling policies.
Absolutely, many swimmers benefit from repeating the adaptive program to continue building comfort, consistency, and foundational skills before moving into traditional youth lessons.
