Family Membership Spotlight: Pedro, Martina, and Jennifer Tezen
For over ten years, the Tezen family has been integrating into nearly every facet of the Kroc Greenville community.
Having learned of the center from a colleague at Goodwill before Covid, Pedro, his wife Martina, and their daughter Jenifer now scan into the front desk around lunchtime, daily. Originally, the trio were members at a YMCA, but The Kroc treats the Tezens “like family.”
AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE
According to Pedro, “the customer service here is just awesome! Everyone smiles and knows our names.” When they walk through the doors at Kroc Greenville, staff are quick to greet the family which makes members feel a part of something bigger than themselves.
Fitness Coordinator and Personal Trainer John Webb saw the Tezen’s photo as our Marketing Coordinator prepared this blog. He recognized their faces immediately and happily recalled a time when Pedro shared empanadas with fitness center staff.
Membership Manager Lisa Richardson has welcomed the family for a decade and says, “I love working at a community center where members are more than billable account stats. The Tezens are truly part of our family.”
Lisa recounts memories of Jennifer playing basketball in the gymnasium and hopes to support her healing journey as Jennifer works towards regaining the mobility needed to shoot hoops comfortably.
“Not only does Pedro greet me at the desk, but he also sincerely checks in on how I’m doing. We chat about our faith which can really help shift my mindset, especially during stressful days. It’s a race between Pedro and I on who will say hi to who first both here and at Ross, where he works.” The pair have developed authentic friendship and rapport.
It seems the Tezens have made as much of an impact on The Kroc as The Kroc has made on them which is exactly how a community center is meant to work.
STAYING ACTIVE AT THE KROC
When they’re on site, Pedro, Martina, and Jennifer most often use the fitness center equipment, aquatics center, and hot tub/ spa. Jennifer has Down Syndrome and has recently been navigating some challenges with her legs, but The Kroc has supported her and her family with our loaner wheelchair and attentive teams.
With Martina’s help, Jennifer has still been getting the movement she needs to keep her muscles healthy, all while enjoying natural light and updated equipment. We have to agree with Pedro when he says, “There’s no gym like this one.”
Kroc Greenville’s facilities are truly beautiful and its hospitality is unmatched. When he’s not here, though, Pedro finds himself on the other side of customer service.
SERVICE WITH A SMILE
With 18 years of retail experience at Ross Dress for Less locations (You can currently find him in Cherrydale.), he enjoys his role, coworkers, and the regulars he meets on the job.
It seems no matter where he and his family go, the Tezens are a joy to meet and know. We encourage you to say, “Hello,” should you spot them in The Kroc or out and about in Greenville. After all, life in our community is better together!
