The Salvation Army of Greenville Kroc Center Executive Director Announces Retirement
GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Salvation Army of Greenville announced today the Kroc Center’s Executive Director David Hanna will retire at the end of October.
Hanna has led the community center's staff in day-to-day operations since he began as executive director in March 2022.
“David Hanna’s vision for The Salvation Army Kroc Center has always been to lift Jesus higher,” said Major Michael Harris, area commander, Greenville, SC / Senior Kroc Center. “He can often be found praying with Kroc Center members as his love of people and his passion for their souls are undeniable. As David moves towards honorable retirement, he leaves behind a legacy of love, and I can’t think of a better legacy.”
Hanna was attracted to the position at Kroc Greenville because of its role as a community center that addresses the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of individuals and families in Greenville.
“I believe the Kroc Center is the ‘best kept secret in Greenville’,” said Hanna in 2022. “It is a multi-cultural, multi-generational community space, where people can come to try out a fitness or aquatics class, attend a Kroc Church worship service, play tennis, volunteer with the youth, attend a play or Community Arts Night held here.”
Prior to joining the Kroc Greenville, Hanna served as the Director of Greenville Rescue Mission for Miracle Hill Ministries. A longtime volunteer with Triune Mercy Center in Greenville, Hanna also worked with the Atlanta Mission, serving the needs of homeless populations.
As he begins this next chapter, Hanna looks forward to spending more time with his wife and grandchildren and embarking on future travel adventures.

About Kroc Greenville
Kroc Greenville is a custom made community center for Greenville. The 26 Kroc Centers throughout America were built and developed by The Salvation Army through a very generous $1.5 billion gift from Joan Kroc. When the Kroc Centers were built in the late 2000s, each community, including Greenville, was required to raise a percentage of the funds necessary to open the center. Our Greenville community graciously pledged the funds needed, and we opened our doors in 2011. Kroc Center Greenville was tailored to the city’s needs: a 74,000-square-foot building resting on 25 acres dedicated to recreation, education, and worship for members of all ages and backgrounds. We invest in you because the Greenville community invested in us.
